Inspiration Station - What Inspires Me Now!
I love the feeling I get when I come across something truly inspiring! I feel like a sense of pure bliss and an enthusiasm that could only be compared to a dog seeing their owner at the end of the day.
And that feeling can only be topped by sharing what inspires me and seeing the same reaction in someone else’s face.
So, I'd like to take you on a trip to explore a couple of things that intrigue and inspire me!
And since I am a story telling at heart, I wanted you to know why these things inspire me. So here we go!
1. Unchartered Podcast by Hannah Fry
Let's start with a great podcast from BBC. The BBC is a guarantee for great quality content, but I love how well this podcast is made.
Not only are they sharing some truly inspiring stories, they also do it in a way that feels almost cinematic. I know it sounds strange, but see if you agree with me when you listen to an episode.
If you want to start somewhere, I would recommend trying the episode about the Happiness Curve as it applies to all of us one way or another.
2. Visionaire Magazine
The Visionaire Magazine is by far my favorite discovery, even though I do not and probably will never own any of the magazine's issues.
This is because it is one of the world's most expensive magazines, but I was lucky enough to come across it at my university's library when I studied arts.
This is not a usual magazine, the issues are so unique that in some cases they are not even in a magazine format.
One of them was a series of perfumes designed by professional perfumers under specified briefs, including things like the smell of sadness! Really out there in its thinking...
But, my favorite one is issue 56 called Solar which was printed using light sensitive ink. The images appear black and white unless you take the magazine outside to direct sun light where color appears either on the entire page or specific details.
It is just magical!
3. The Atlas of Craftsmanship by Cabana Magazine
The Cabana Magazine - which in itself is a very inspiring publication - has recently released a very inspiring collection of stories called Atlas of Craftsmanship.
It is a resource that presents a wide range of stories about traditional craftsmanship from around the world.
A great one to get you started was the story of The Origins of the Suzani fabrics.
4. The History of Art in Three Colors by the BBC
I am a huge fan of documentaries and when that is combined with art, well I am hooked!
This particular series from the BBC has a very unique take on art history as it explores it through three colors only.
And I must say, not the colors I would have expected!
If it sounds interesting, I have created a Youtube playlist with all the episodes for you to enjoy!
Now it's your turn!
So here we have it... some of the things that inspire me and I really hope they inspire you too.
Please reach out to me and let me know whether you found something there that resonated with you. Connecting with people through inspiring things is a true gift for me!
