Inspiration - Attica Girl

Attica Girl watercolor painting by Ariadne Kritonos along with watercolor pans and inks.

Let me introduce you to the "Attica Girl"!

This little figure reminds me of a girl with her hands spread out like she is about to start dancing in her big dress!
The Attica part of the name is coming from the garment where I found the motif, which originates from the region of Attica in Greece - below you can see an image of the garment and a video focusing of the detailed that inspired me.

As you may know, I am inspired by motifs and shapes I find in Greek traditional embroidery of the 18th and 19th century.

BUT, (and that's a big but) my aim is to make these shapes look fresh and interesting regardless of whether one knows their history or not. So I hope this comes across with the Attica Girl!
